Mirrors 16th February 2012
- A series of great lectures/sermons on Christian ministry that
Phillip Jensen gave in the UK:
- Shepherds: including a rant against modern counseling and how the church is stuck in therapeutic mode, even as secular counseling has begun to abandon it.. Also a great challenge to think biblically about pastors (=shepherding). Our task is to shepherd the whole flock, with the word of God, not simply counsel individuals.
- Slaves: some excellent background work on the biblical slavery vs African-American slavery.
- Men Pleasers: including Phillip’s own fierce version of the infamous Mark Driscoll rebuke of English timidity and a rejection of Key Performance Indicators and job descriptions for pastors.
- Soldiers: including a critique of Keller’s ‘love the city’ Jeremiah 29 stuff, a critique of boxing and cage fighting.

similar with ‘multiplication movements’What’s your growth dynamic? Al
Stewart insists that every church should think this through.
